APPLE iPHONE QUESTIONS! URGENT ANSWERs needed?
Hey Guys, i’ve probably posted thousands of iPhone questions and thanks for taking the times to read this one! okay here’s the deal, i’m thinking of purchasing an iPhone [of eBay] of course because im not paying 400 dollars for a phone that ill probably mess up in 3 months
1) If i do buy one from ebay, and usually the sellers say (DO NOT UPGRADE FIRMWARE BECUZ IT WILL LOCK UP) do i need to worry bout it locking up when i have AT&T (US) with an AT&T sim card???
2) I make my own ringtones with Sony American Idol Extreme Music Creator for my razr (sux), will i be able to make custom ringtones for the iPhone without paying???
3) i want a good camera, mp3 player, and phone altogether for when i travel and i have lots of songs i bought with iTunes and they wont work on the razr.
ANY OTHER INFO YOU THINK I NEED 2 NO! THNKS
PS. since i have att will i be able to upgrade firmware w/out a lockup???

Hey, good choice on the iphone, let me fill in your questions.
1. If they say, “DO NOT UPGRADE FIRMWARE BECAUSE IT WILL LOCK”. then yes you should worry about that phone. If it locks when you upgrade firmware, that means the phone has been hacked to work on any network, or has been hacked to include games or visuals (Such as themes) that are not originally on the phone. Steer away from these, as they cannot be warrantied by AT&T or Apple if they are hacked.
2. No. You are pretty much held to the Ringtones on the phone stock, unless you upgrade the firmware to the newest version. I believe here, you can use songs from your iTunes as ringtones, and you can select exactly which part of the song you want to use.
3. This isn’t really a question, but the iphone is all of these things, and probably the best at doing all of them.
And the last (unnumbered) question, if the phone hasn’t been hacked, you can upgrade the firmware. I would suggest, if you are set on buying one on eBay, ask for a picture of it, sealed in its box, or ask for a picture of its screen if opened. If it doesn’t look like the normal iPhone screen, or if the Carrier icon doesn’t read AT&T (This usually gets stuck when you try to hack the phone, and can’t be set back to AT&T), then AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Really, I’d just go with getting the phone at an AT&T Store.
