How do I use the LAME encoder for Audacity on Mac OSX? The *Export as MP3* option does not appear…?
I’ve checked videos, asked people, I’ve done it a few times, I’ve tried EVERYTHING but the option isn’t there!
Mac version: 10.5.7
Audacity version: 1.3.7
LAME version: 3.98.2
Versions 1.2 and 1.3 differ slightly in the method.
This is how using 1.3.
File.
Export.
In the window which opens select mp3 from the drop down list in the “save as type” box.
Select the bitrate using the “options” button.
Click OK.
If the program asks for it browse to the location of the Lame codec and click OK. Unless you move the Lame codec you will only need to do this once.

The vids I’ve seen and even the tutorial below only refer to the 1.2 version. Even though they may help with most of the functions there are some variations in method.
