The speed at which technology evolves is quite scary. Everyone was stunned by the arrival of the microwave oven, MP3 players seem to work by magic and nobody really knows how mobile phones function. A great deal of the newest technology we see enter the market has the intention of pounding our senses into oblivion with more intense images, louder sounds and faster movement. However, one of the newest technologies to hit the market is one that can be used to calm us down, relax us and even heal.
The virtual spa is a online computer program that aims to simulate the experience of being in a health spa. Developed by Restless Creations in London, It uses a virtual head set to immerse the user in luxury spa surroundings. Your time in the can be spent checking out all the rooms, gardens and facilities, or making some new ones if you like. You can plug your own selection of relaxing music into the game and even book in for a lovely body polish and massage if you’d like. There is an optional attachment of a vibrating chair pad that can simulate having different spa treatments. Other activities include going for a swim, having a sauna and even playing croquet.
The developers claim that using the virtual spa game for 30 minutes will bring down your resting heart rate by up to 20%. The suggest market for the game are people who cannot afford to take spa days themselves or people who suffer from tension or stress. They hope that once the game takes off they will be able to start sending out real skin care products to users so that can complete that spa experience without leaving the house
